BEIJING, China: State media Beijing Daily has reported that China will launch a state-backed online platform for transport, which will offer ride-hailing, cargo trucking, road transport, railway, ferry and flight services.
The newspaper added that the online platform, known as "Qiang Guo Jiao Tong" or "Powerful Nation's Transportation," has completed its internal trials and is expected to integrate more than 90 percent of the transportation market.
Before being reigned in by the Cyberspace Administration of China in 2021, Didi Global dominated China's ride-hailing market.
Also, after it took measures to ensure the security of data on the platform, the 18-month ban again Didi was lifted this week.
The report did not give details of why the government was introducing the platform, whether customers would be obliged to use it or whether it would compete with existing platforms.
The report alluded to the disorderly expansion of ride-hailing apps and issues of data security.
Beijing Daily reported that the platform will offer people convenient services, maintain data security, protect personal privacy, and integrate other social media apps, such as Wechat, Alipay and Douyin.
